Profile Your Group
The Funder’s Network for Afghan Women is pleased to provide qualified Afghan women’s organizations with the opportunity to profile their work to our membership. We will circulate your organizational profile on our listserv, feature your profile on the website and keep this information on file for the reference of potential future donors. To qualify, organizations must be registered NGOs with their national government, must have been in operation for at least one year at the time of submission, and should send a profile of a maximum of one page which includes a brief mandate, description, current areas of focus, and activities for which you are seeking support. Submissions of longer than 1 page will not be accepted. It will be at the discretion of FNAW whether to circulate the profile. FNAW may provide editorial assistance, and you may be asked to make changes to your profile if it does not conform to our guidelines.

Applying For Assistance From American Jewish World Service
Thank you for your interest in American Jewish World Service (AJWS). AJWS is a non-profit, international development organization working on a non-sectarian basis with grassroots non-governmental organizations (NGOs) throughout the developing world engaged in community development or emergency relief driven by respect for human rights. The inspiration for AJWS' work is drawn from the mandate to work for social justice that is articulated in the Jewish tradition.
AJWS provides grassroots NGOs with financial support in the form of small grants, ranging in size from $3,000-$30,000 per year. Our grants are awarded for a year at a time; they may be renewed annually. AJWS funds projects in the areas of sustainable agriculture, health, economic development and education. All of our projects have a strong component of strengthening civil society or women’s empowerment.
If you are seeking financial support for a grassroots community based initiative, first look at the Projects section of our website, www.ajws.org, to help you determine if your project seems like one that we would consider for support. If it does, please submit to us a brief letter of inquiry. Letters of inquiry are accepted throughout the year, and we award new grants quarterly. The letter should be no more than three pages long, and should include the following:
- The name of the organization
- A brief description, including its mission, where it works, and its past and current activities
- A brief description of the work for which you seek support, including an estimate of how much funding you would seek from AJWS for one year, and how you would use the support
- A list of your current sources of funding, including private donations, grants and other sources.
- How you heard about AJWS
- Contact information (postal address, street address, telephone, fax, email, website)
- Contact person's name and title
- Preferred method of communication (post, fax or email)
Due to the volume of the requests we receive, we regret that we are unable to fund many worthwhile proposals. Please note that AJWS does not provide any funding to individuals, businesses or orphanages.
Letters of inquiry may be sent by mail, email or fax to:
